Naming Your New Cat

Posted on September 15, 2022September 25, 2022 by Down Home Inspections

Choosing a name for your cat is a big decision. It’s not just a matter of picking something you like — it has to be something that your cat likes, too.

Choosing a name for your cat can be tough. There are so many to choose from, and if you get it wrong, it could cause problems in the long run.

But don’t worry! We’ve got some tips on how to choose a name for your kitty that will make both of you happy.

1) Consider Your Cat’s Personality

Choose a name that fits their personality. If they’re playful and curious, try something like “Socks” or “Tigger.” If they’re more reserved and shy, consider naming them after one of their siblings or another family pet (if there is one).

2) Consider Your Own Personality If you’re a fan of old movies, choose something like “Gabby” or “Sylvester.” For bookworms, try “Jane Eyre” or “Curious George.”

3) Consider Your Cat’s Appearance If your cat has a lot of white fur, consider naming them after a snowy landscape (like “Blizzard” or “Snowball”). For black cats that look like they have some Mediterranean heritage in them, try something like “Giorgio” or “Othello.”If your cat has a lot of orange fur, consider naming them after an orange (like “Peaches” or “Sour Cream”). If they have a unique color like white and brown stripes, try something like “Django” or “Zorro.”

4) Consider Your Cat’s Behavior If your cat is playful and likes to run around, consider naming them after a fast moving object (like “Cheetah” or “Lightning”). For cats that are more laid back and like to relax, try something like “Couch Potato” or “Lazy Bones.

If your cat is particularly smart and likes to play tricks on you, consider naming them after a magician (like “Houdini” or “Dynamo”). If they are clumsy or like to knock things over, try something like “Clumsy Kitty.”

Conclusion

Of course, if you want to name your cat something creative and original, go for it. Just keep in mind that it should fit their personality and help you remember who they are.
